Coffee cups
When we say "get me a cup of coffee," what kind
of container are we really referring to? A mug is really in a separate
category. A cup usually refers to a smaller device that can hold hot
water without burning hands and is often disposable. Picture the office
cafeteria: that's really where you find a coffee cup.
Ceramic coffee cups are an inexpensive reusable container for coffee
for the home or restaurant. They can be purchased in small amounts online
or in retail stores. For restaurants they can also be purchased in bulk.
They are dishwasher and microwave safe.
Disposable coffee cups can be made of styrofoam or heavyweight paper.
The environmental movement has pointed out that Styrofoam produces harmful
gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect, so many offices are
cutting back on the purchase of Styrofoam cups. In their place, it is
more common to find heavyweight paper mugs with cardboard wings that
can be held between the fingers.
